Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS)

A monthly pension for widows from below-poverty-line households, under the National Social Assistance Programme.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicant is female
  • Age is between 40 and 79 years
  • Belongs to a Below Poverty Line (BPL) / priority-ration-card household
  • Applicant is a widow

Note: For widows aged 40–79 from BPL households (80+ move to old-age pension). Amounts shown are the central share; states often add a top-up. Confirm locally.

  • Aadhaar / identity proof
  • Age proof
  • Death certificate of spouse
  • BPL / income documentation
  • Bank / post office account
