Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY)

Cash assistance to encourage institutional delivery, reducing maternal and newborn mortality among poorer households.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicant is female
  • Pregnant woman delivering in a government/accredited facility (in high-performing states: BPL/SC/ST)

Note: In low-performing states all pregnant women delivering in public/accredited facilities are eligible; in high-performing states the mother's cash targets BPL/SC/ST women. A common guideline also applies age 19+ and up to two live births — confirm locally.

Documents required

  • JSY / MCP card
  • Proof of age (Aadhaar / birth certificate)
  • BPL or SC/ST certificate (for high-performing states)
  • Bank account details
  • Delivery / institution record

How to apply for Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY)

  2. 2Keep the required documents ready: JSY / MCP card, Proof of age (Aadhaar / birth certificate), BPL or SC/ST certificate (for high-performing states), Bank account details, Delivery / institution record.
