Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY)

A small-savings scheme for the girl child, offering an attractive fixed interest rate and tax benefits to build a corpus for her education and marriage.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicant is female
  • Account opened by a guardian for a girl child below 10 years of age

Note: The account is opened by a parent/guardian for a girl child under 10. A maximum of two accounts per family (girls). Confirm current interest rate and limits at the post office or bank.

Documents required

  • Birth certificate of the girl child
  • Identity & address proof of guardian
  • Photographs
